Greenway Renewable Energy was born out of a tragedy turned triumph story in Greensburg, Kansas.  In 2007, a F5 tornado obliterated the city.  With the city devastated, the people of Greensburg could have decided to throw in the towel, but instead they decided to make history.  The town council and citizens decided that Greensburg would not only be rebuilt, but that it would be remade as “green” as possible.  Their idea was to achieve an award from the federal government, called the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating.

Going Green – The John Deere Way
BTI, the local John Deere dealership in Greensburg, became central to the reconstruction effort.  They were entrusted with the purchase and installation of wind turbines for energy production as part of the new city codes.  Not all wind turbines are created equal, and with a name like John Deere and a 150-year history of integrity on the line, BTI couldn't stand behind just any product.  They sought out the best wind turbine company in the world -Endurance Wind Power.  The first units were ordered, installed, and worked flawlessly.  The turbines instantly led to cleaner air and cost savings for the town, and contributed to Greensburg achieving the Platinum level LEED rating, the highest rating available. 

Greenway Equipment, a John Deere dealer group serving Arkansas and Southeast Missouri, got involved by sending blessings and manpower to Greensburg.  It wasn’t long before Greenway Equipment decided to become a part of the idea that began in Greensburg, by supplying the very same high quality wind turbines to our customers.  Thus, Greenway Renewable Energy was born to meet the demand for the region’s clean energy solutions.
